Hidden
Surely you are a god who hides himself,

He will be handed over to the Gentiles. He will be ridiculed, mistreated, and spit on. After torturing him, they will kill him. Savior God, for your own reasons you keep some things hidden from us. It must be better that way. Sometimes I have a hard time accepting that you don't tell me everything I want to know. That's not just because I am curious. But I tend to think I am more important than I am. Help me to accept that you are busy keeping the world running even with my limited knowledge. Please help me to focus more on what you have revealed. Resurrection and new life is more than enough good news to keep me occupied. Amen.

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul. The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
