Judging

God is the one who uncovers what lies deeply hidden; he knows what hides in darkness; light lives with him! ~ Daniel 2:22 (CEB)

So don’t make judgments about anyone ahead of time—before the Lord returns. For he will bring our darkest secrets to light and will reveal our private motives. Then God will give to each one whatever praise is due. ~ 1 Corinthians 4:5 (NLT)
Almighty God, you are just. You will make everything right. I confess that sometimes I get carried away and try to render judgement on people prematurely. Give me the power to be less condemning -- to not take all injustices personally -- as though I'm supposed to be the judge. It's scary enough that you will be judging me. You know my secrets. You know that even in judging others my motives are not pure.  I can't afford to be judged for judging others. So I'm going to work on letting you be the only judge. Amen.

*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.

The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
