Precious

Then the Lord All-Powerful said: "You people are precious to me, and when I come to bring justice, I will protect you, just as parents protect an obedient child. ~ Malachi 3:17 (CEV)

A husband should love his wife as much as Christ loved the church and gave his life for it. He made the church holy by the power of his word, and he made it pure by washing it with water. ~ Ephesians 5:25-26 (CEV)
All-Powerful Lord, you protect and care for those who are precious to you. You've made great sacrifices for us. I acknowledge, though, that I do not fully appreciate what you have done. Use your powerful word to power-wash me so that I am living a pure and grateful life. This is my life's ambition. Thank you for making it happen. Amen.
Challenging Words
  • precious -- very dear and loved, highly valued
  • power-wash -- device that sprays high pressure water -- used to clean buildings, walls, roofs, walkways, and objects which are especially difficult to clean

*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.

The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
