Generous praise
We’ll tell the next generation
all about the praise due the Lord and his strength—the wondrous works God has done. ~ Psalm 78:4 (CEB)
You received without having to pay. Therefore, give without demanding payment. ~ Matthew 10:8 (CEB)
Glorious God, thank you for all the great things you have freely done for me. Sometimes I don't realize all that you have done for me. That's because I'm so busy thinking about all the new things I want you to do for me. It's good that I trust you for new things. But I still need to praise you and thank you for old things. And I need to give as freely as you have given to me. Transform me into a generous person so that I am telling the next generation with deeds -- not just words. Amen.
*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS
The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul. The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
