Ruler

You alone are God over all the earth’s kingdoms. You made both heaven and earth. ~ 2 Kings 19:15b (CEB)

Now the kingdom of this world belongs to our Lord and to his Chosen One! And he will rule forever and ever! ~ Revelation 11:15b (CEV)
You, Lord, are the ruler over everything and everyone. Even the people who don't acknowledge you, belong to you. But there is time for people to change. That's because there is no end to your rule. It goes on forever. I need to change so that everything in my life lines up with your rule. If you made both heaven and earth you can certainly remake me. I'm counting on you to change me. Amen.

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.

The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
