Worthy
Pray for his blessings
to continue
and for everyone on earth
to worship our God. ~ Psalm 67:7 (CEV)
Our Lord and God,
you are worthy
to receive glory,
honor, and power.
You created all things,
and by your decision they are
and were created. ~ Revelation 4:11 (CEV)
Creator God, there is nothing that I can add to the doxology. Glory, honor, and power rightfully belong to you and you alone. I regret that sometimes I try to steal glory, honor, and power from you. I try to have those things for myself. Sometimes I don't even realize that I'm doing it. Perhaps my lack of self-awareness is as scary as the fact that I'm trying to act all important. Thank you for forgiveness and grace. They are further evidence that you are the one to be worshiped and adored. Amen.
*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS
The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul. The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
