Calling God
He will answer the prayer of those who don’t have anything.
He won’t say no to their cry for help. ~ Psalm 102:17 (NIRV)
God’s chosen people cry out to him day and night. Won’t he make things right for them? ~ Luke 18:7 (NIRV)
Lord, you respond favorably when your people cry out to you. How is it then, that I tend to cry out to everyone else when I've got a problem? I like to hear myself talk. I want to get everyone sympathizing with me. But that is all misplaced energy. While you often don't answer in the exact way we'd like, you never leave us hanging. You are always there for those who call out to you -- no matter how important or unimportant they are. Lord, you are the best! Amen!
*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS
The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul. The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
