Curse to blessing

Our God turned the curse into a blessing. ~ Nehemiah 13:2

In other words, God was reconciling the world to himself through Christ, by not counting people’s sins against them. He has trusted us with this message of reconciliation. ~ 2 Corinthians 5:19 (CEB)
Our God, you are in the business of turning negative things into positive things. This is why you sent Christ to confront sin and death. Now even those things have lost their negative power. You've turned the curse of sin into the blessing of reconciliation. Help me to keep this big picture perspective in view as I face negative things throughout the day. Sometimes I allow the negative things in life to discourage me. But that is not how I want to operate anymore. Raise me up above the negativity. Help me to live and share your positive message of reconciliation. Amen.

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.

The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
