Listening God
I am your servant, and the people of Israel belong to you. So listen when any of us pray and cry out for your help. ~ 1 Kings 8:52 (CEV)
“Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. ~ Matthew 7:7 (NLT)
Lord, we are depending on you to pay attention to us and our needs. We might be stupid weaklings who try to fix things on our own. But we can't do it -- in spite of our best efforts. So I seek, and knock, and pray, trusting that you will continue to respond. Even when I feel like nothing is happening I'm going to keep seeking and asking and waiting. I'm not going to give up. Amen.
*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS
The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul. The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
