Evil and Corruption
All of them have turned bad.
Everyone is corrupt.
No one does good—
not even one person! ~ Psalm 14:3 (CEB)
Rescue us from the evil one. ~ Matthew 6:13
God, there sure seems to be a lot of evil in the world right now. And some of it lives inside me. Thank you for sending Jesus to rescue us -- to rescue me -- from that evil. Thank you for the work you are doing in me to cut out and remove all that is bad and corrupt. I am an incomplete restoration project but I don't feel so depressed or overwhelmed by the evil around me when I consider all that Jesus is doing within me. You are my Savior. I'm going to rely on you to make me better. I don't have it within me to do it myself. Amen.
*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS
The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul. The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
