God is good
Don’t be jealous of sinners,
but always honor the Lord. ~ Proverbs 23:17 (CEV)
Then you will be acting like your Father in heaven. He makes the sun rise on both good and bad people... ~ Matthew 5:45 (CEV)
Lord, I confess that sometimes I envy the success of the people who don't follow you. How come they're doing so well when they live so wrong? It's easy to think of ways I could spend the money that I put in the offering and the time that I give to caring for the poor. I could be rich, too! I could have a great boat and a big house. But I am trusting that you have the best of intentions for all people -- including me. Even if I don't have all the things other people have, I do have the promise of your blessing and the confidence that you are sending good my way. You are worthy of all honor, for you are the wise source of all good. Amen.
*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS
The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul. The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
