Celebrating

Christmas -- The Nativity of Christ Jesus

David and all Israel were celebrating before God with all their might, singing songs and playing all kinds of musical instruments—lyres, harps, tambourines, cymbals, and trumpets. ~ 1 Chronicles 13:8 (NLT)

As the shepherds returned to their sheep, they were praising God and saying wonderful things about him. ~ Luke 2:20a (CEV)
God, on this day especially you deserve praise. We remember that you sent your Son Christ Jesus to live among us, to teach us, to die for us, and to rise again to establish new life. You are wonderful. I want to sing and play my ukulele for you. I want that kind of praise to characterize my life. I can't go wrong if I'm singing, dancing, and playing music for you. It's time to make my life about celebrating your goodness. Amen.

*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.

The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
