Faithful under pressure
The God we serve can rescue us from your roaring furnace and anything else you might cook up, O king. But even if he doesn’t, it wouldn’t make a bit of difference, O king. We still wouldn’t serve your gods or worship the gold statue you set up. ~ Daniel 3:17-18 (MSG)
I know all the things you do, and I have opened a door for you that no one can close. You have little strength, yet you obeyed my word and did not deny me. ~ Revelation 3:8 (NLT)
Lord, I am so thankful that you stand with those who stand with you. You will not abandon us. When we are faithful under pressure it shows how truly faithful you are. You are the kind of God worth dying for -- if it comes to that. I know that I'm weak but I know that you will give me the strength I need to remain faithful. And you will give it to me as I need it. All I need to do is use the strength you've already given to me to act in faith. That's not too hard. Amen.
*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS
The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul. The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
