Hearing God's voice

Now if you really obey the Lord your God’s voice, then the Lord your God will set you high above all nations on earth. ~ Deuteronomy 28:1a,6 (CEB)

Abraham was certain that God could do what he had promised. ~ Romans 4:21 (CEV)
Lord, I am not in the least bit worried about your ability to keep your promises. Nor am I concerned about your faithfulness. You are totally faithful and all powerful. But I do worry over whether I am properly discerning what you are saying to me. I don't always hear so well. And when I do recognize your voice, my mind tends to twist things so that I'm mostly hearing what I want to hear. I need more practice in discernment. So, as I am still maturing, help me to relax in your grace. The point is that you've got things covered -- even when I get it all wrong. Thank you. Amen.

*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.

The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
