Set free

When you are in trouble, call out to me. I will answer and be there to protect and honor you. ~ Psalm 91:15 (CEV)

Jesus could set people free who were afraid of death. All their lives they were held as slaves by that fear. ~ Hebrews 2:15 (NIRV)
Lord, so much of the trouble I get myself into is related to fear. I am afraid that people will not take me seriously. I am afraid that my life will be insignificant. I am afraid that I will mess up. I am afraid that it will all end badly at some point. So I call out to you again, knowing that you care for and protect me. For you are the kind of God who cares deeply about people -- even broken and silly fearful people. Thank you for being there. I need to call out to you even more often. Help me to do that with every breath I take. Amen.

*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.

The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
