Speaking
Then the Lord said to Moses... “You must say everything I command you to say." ~ Exodus 7:1a, 2a (NIRV)
Lord... We are your servants. So make us brave enough to speak your message. ~ Acts 4:29 (CEV)
Lord,
THANKS: Thank you for giving me a speaking part.
REGRETS: Sometimes I worry that I'll mess up. I'm concerned that I won't say your message correctly. So I get all shy -- and do nothing -- even when there is a clear opportunity to tell others about you and your good news.
INTERCESSION: Of course, I'm not really that great of a speaker to begin with. So please guide my words and make me brave enough to speak.
PURPOSE: I'm going to own the servant title that you've given to us. It is a privilege to serve you.
Amen.
*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS
The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul. The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
