The Spirit

(Lord,) You gave your good spirit to teach them. ~ Nehemiah 9:20a (CEB)

And we have received God’s Spirit (not the world’s spirit), so we can know the wonderful things God has freely given us. ~ 1 Corinthians 2:12 (NLT)
Lord,
THANKS: Thank you for filling your people with the Holy Spirit. Thank you for instructing us in how to have blessed lives. Thank you for for being so generous.
REGRET: Unfortunately, I don't take full advantage of the gift of your Spirit. I'm too satisfied with wisdom from the world and I'm not very teachable sometimes.
INTERCESSION: So, please move in my heart. Have your Spirit poke me and nudge me toward a state of mind where I can and will learn from you. I want to be able to share your wisdom with others, too. But you need to do something in me first.
PURPOSE: I'm going to focus today on tuning-in to your Spirit. I'm going to be on the lookout for the wonderful things that you are so generously giving to us -- to me.
Amen.

*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.

The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
