Hand of God
The Third Sunday in Lent
For I hold you by your right hand—
I, the Lord your God.
And I say to you,
‘Don’t be afraid. I am here to help you. ~ Isaiah 41:13 (NLT)
Now Simon’s mother-in-law was sick in bed with a high fever. They told Jesus about her right away. So he went to her bedside, took her by the hand, and helped her sit up. Then the fever left her... ~ Mark 1:30-31a (NLT)
O God, you are our helper -- our healer. Forgive me for resisting your help. I try to fix things myself -- and when I do that, I usually just end up with a life full of fear and anxiety. So I've decided that I need to count on you to take my hand and lift me up. Please reward my faith by healing all that is troubling me. Amen.

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul. The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
