Love

Doom to those who consider themselves wise, who think of themselves as clever. ~ Isaiah 5:21 (CEB)

If I understood all of God’s secret plans and possessed all knowledge, and if I had such faith that I could move mountains, but didn’t love others, I would be nothing. ~ 1 Corinthians 13:2 (NLT)
God, I am so doomed if I think I can make things work my way.

THANKS: Thank you for loving me.

REGRETS: I feel unlovable sometimes. I'm full of myself. I think that I am smarter than a really am. I confuse cockiness for boldness.

INTERCESSION: I want to be as loving as you are. And I can't do that apart from you. Help me to genuinely love others.

PURPOSE: I'm going to look for ways to love others -- even in the smallest things I do.

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.
