Mornings
Ash Wednesday
Listen to my voice in the morning, Lord.
Each morning I bring my requests to you and wait expectantly. ~ Psalm 5:3 (NLT)
Before daybreak the next morning, Jesus got up and went out to an isolated place to pray. ~ Mark 1:35 (NLT)
Lord,
THANKS: Thank you for being there when I wake up in the morning. Each and everyday you are still with me.
REGRETS: I'm not much of a morning person and I don't always start the day out with you -- even though you are there. Sometimes my mind gets working so fast with all the things I think I need to do that I forget.
INTERCESSION: I need to find some isolated places to be with you. Help me to find that sweet spot.
PURPOSE: In spite of my poor prayer practices I'm still going to wait for your responses. I wait with eager expectation because I know what kind of a God you are.
Amen.
*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS
The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul. The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
