God of light

I am the Lord. No other gods are real. I create light and darkness, happiness and sorrow. I, the Lord, do all of this. ~ Isaiah 45:6b-7 (CEV)

For God, who said, “Let there be light in the darkness,” has made this light shine in our hearts so we could know the glory of God that is seen in the face of Jesus Christ. ~ 2 Corinthians 4:6 (NLT)
God, you are the one who speaks light into the darkness. You called light to fill creation. Now you call light into our lives to overcome the darkness of sin. I'm so thankful that we can know your glory. I confess, though, that while I love the light, sometimes I slip into dark things. Shine your light -- the light of Christ Jesus -- into my life so that all remaining darkness is expelled. And I in return will reflect and shine his light into the darkness around me. Amen.

*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.

The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
