The only God

Remember the things I have done in the past. For I alone am God! I am God, and there is none like me. ~ Isaiah 46:10 (NLT)

We have only one God, and he is the Father. He created everything, and we live for him. Jesus Christ is our only Lord. Everything was made by him, and by him life was given to us. ~ 1 Corinthians 8:6 (CEV)
Lord, when I look back on my life I realize that no one has been there for me like you. Often I don't realize how you are taking care of me until after the fact. Thank you. And help me to worry less about all my problems. Give me long term lenses to look back and find encouragement. I can even find encouragement by looking at the bad and sad times. I'm going to find my hope in you, for you even sacrificed your life so that we could live. You alone are God! Amen.

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.

The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
