Turn back
I, the all-powerful Lord, commander of all the armies in heaven, hereby declares that if you people will come back to me, I will again favor you with my presence. ~ Zechariah 1:3 (ABP)
Some people think that the Lord is being too slow about returning to usher in judgment. No, that is not at all the case. Consider yourself fortunate, he is just being patient with YOU. He is giving you more chances to really turn to him. After all, he does not want to wipe out anyone. That's not the kind of Lord he is. ~ 2 Peter 3:9 (ABP)
Thank you, Lord, for being so patient with me. I'm still trying to work through what it means to really turn to you. Some days I'm successful and other days -- not so much. See my heart and my desire. Give me energy and will to continually turn to you. I do want to be with you. Amen.
*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS
The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul. The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
