Undefeatable

Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord will personally go ahead of you. He will be with you; he will neither fail you nor abandon you. ~ Deuteronomy 31:8 (NLT)

Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. Lord God, thank you for sharing your powerful love with me. I feel love from you. And I am confident that none of my problems can block your love. No attack can stop your love. No unloving person can cancel out your love. I need to quit using problems and attacks and bad people as excuses to worry. I'm going to trust you and live as a hopeful person. With your help I'm not going to be defeated. Amen.

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.

The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
