Partners

You people are in for trouble! You have made cruel and unfair laws that let you cheat the poor and needy and rob widows and orphans. ~ Isaiah 10:1-2 (CEV)

Don’t become partners with those who reject God. How can you make a partnership out of right and wrong? That’s not partnership; that’s war. Is light best friends with dark? ~ 2 Corinthians 6:14 (MSG)
Lord,

THANKS: I'm thankful that you are passionate about justice and fairness. It gives me hope.

REGRETS: I admit that I am a part of the problem at times. I too easily partner with people who reject you and your ways. It is convenient to embrace their values -- to honor family, clan, and country -- even when they are acting contrary to your will.

INTERCESSION: Grant me the wisdom that I need to function in the world but not draw my energy nor my direction from the world.

PURPOSE: I want to partner exclusively with you.

Amen.

*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.

The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
