Bubbling spring
...You will be like a watered garden,
like a spring of water that won’t run dry. ~ Isaiah 58:11b (CEB)
But those who drink the water I give will never be thirsty again. It becomes a fresh, bubbling spring within them, giving them eternal life. ~ John 4:14 (NLT)
Generous God -- Thank you for the rain. And thank you for the living water that keeps me eternally hydrated. It is so easy to get dry when I drift too far from the spring. Sometimes I don't realize how far I've wandered until I notice the dryness in my mouth. Please keep me close to you so that your spring bubbles up from within me. I'm wanting to live the well-watered eternal life even now. Amen.
CHALLENGING WORD
- bubbling -- water that contains bubbles has lots of oxygen and is considered fresh and clean. It is the best water because it is not stagnate.
- hydrated -- to contain water or fluid, refreshed, not dried out
*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS
The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul. The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
