God gives

When you have eaten your fill, be sure to praise the Lord your God for the good land he has given you. ~ Deuteronomy 8:10a (NLT)

Yet he proved he is real by showing kindness, by giving you rain from heaven and crops at the right times, by giving you food and filling your hearts with joy. ~ Acts 14:17 (NCV)
Lord, I confess that I've become good at thinking of myself as a victim. I like to whine about how unfair things are and how I've been overlooked. But my whining prevents me from realizing the extent of how much you have actually given to us. Thank you for being so generous. Help me to focus on your generosity before I even think about complaining. I want to ooze with gratitude and overflow with God-honoring joy. I pray in the name of Jesus, the greatest gift of all, amen.

*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.

The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
