One and only

Know then today and keep in mind that the Lord is the only God in heaven above or on earth below. There is no other. ~ Deuteronomy 4:39 (CEB)

In fact, God isn’t far away from any of us. In God we live, move, and exist. ~ Acts 17:27b-28a (CEB)
Lord God Almighty -- I'm so glad to know that you make yourself present everywhere. There is no place so high nor any place so low that you're not there. And you are busy doing your God-work everywhere. No one else can do what you do because you are the only God. Thank you for including me in your world and giving me all the power I need to function in it. I complain too much when things are not going the way that I think they should. Remind me that you are present and active even in the worst of situations. Help me to see some of what you are doing so that I can be encouraged and praise you as the one and only God. Amen.

*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.

The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
