Powerful
Lord, you are like a shield that keeps me safe.
Your strong right hand keeps me going. ~ Psalm 18:35a (NIRV)
For the Kingdom of God is not just a lot of talk; it is living by God’s power. ~ 1 Corinthians 4:20 (NLT)
Lord,
THANKS: Thank you for using your power on our behalf. Thank you for extending your shield to protect me. You keep me safe.
REGRETS: And you do that even though I put myself in harms way. It's not something you have called me to do but I'm not so careful with my soul. I talk a lot about safety but I can live pretty recklessly. I'm turning from that way of life toward ongoing safety behind your shield.
INTERCESSION: Please keep reminding me of where I belong. And I pray for my family and friends that they, too, would take full advantage of your power.
PURPOSE: I'm going to live by your power.
Amen.
*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS
The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul. The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
