Renewed

The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning. ~ Lamentations 3:22-23 (NLT)

So we aren’t depressed. But even if our bodies are breaking down on the outside, the person that we are on the inside is being renewed every day. ~ 2 Corinthians 4:16 (CEB)
Faithful Lord, praise to you, for you are the ultimate faithful being. Thank you for making us new -- even though our bodies and the world around us are falling apart. I get discouraged when my body does not work so well or when bad things happen in the world. Help me to focus on the renewal that Christ brings rather than on the discouraging events. I'm going to set my heart and mind on being hopeful about today. For I experience the mercies of Christ in a fresh new way each day. And those mercies overshadow all the garbage. Amen.

*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.

The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
