Sing praise
As long as I live,
I will sing and praise you,
the Lord God. ~ Psalm 102:33 (CEV)
When you meet together, sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, as you praise the Lord with all your heart. ~ Ephesians 4:19 (CEV)
Lord,
THANKS: You are definitely worthy of all the praise. The music should all be about you. You are the awesome creator and the compassionate Savior.
REGRETS: I know this but sometimes I get caught up in other songs -- some of them about me -- some of them glorify things which are contrary to you and your ways.
INTERCESSION: Help me to turn my attention and focus to you and your songs.
PURPOSE: You are the Singer -- so your people sing songs. And I want to sing only your song.
Amen.
*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS
The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul. The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
