Speaking

The Mighty One, God, the Lord, speaks. He calls out to the earth from the sunrise in the east to the sunset in the west. ~ Psalm 50:1 (NIRV)

In the past, God spoke to our people through the prophets. He spoke at many times. He spoke in different ways. But in these last days, he has spoken to us through his Son. ~ Hebrews 1:1-2 (NIRV)
Mighty God, throughout history you have continually called people to join up with you and your work. Thank you for speaking in so many different languages and in different ways. I'm especially grateful that you sent your Son Jesus into the world to speak. That's especially important now that the noise in the world has grown so loud. We need a person who is present and who understands what we have to listen to day-in and day-out. I want to hear Jesus better. I want to know what he is thinking and feeling so that I can follow him better. Help me to tune out all the other noise so that I can focus on hearing and acting according to what he is saying. Amen.

*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.

The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
