I am the Lord your God, and I command you not to make fun of the deaf or to cause a blind person to stumble. ~ Leviticus 19:14 (CEV)
When you give a feast, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, and the blind. They cannot pay you back. But God will bless you and reward you when his people rise from death. ~ Luke 14:13-14 (CEV)
Lord, I'm moved by your compassion and concern for those who live on the margins. I get more excited about genuine care for the poor and disabled than about even the greatest worship music. Your love is the best music to my heart -- even though there are times when I am so deep into myself that I don't notice the music or the poor. Help me to line up more closely behind you and what is important to you. Give me a heart for people who have hard lives. I want to represent you to them. Amen.
