Light

O Lord, you are my lamp. The Lord lights up my darkness. ~ 2 Samuel 22:29 (NLT)

I have come as a light into the world so that everyone who believes in me won’t live in darkness. ~ John 12:46 (CEB)
O Lord,

THANKS: Thank you for lighting up the path in front of me.

REGRETS: I wish you would light everything up so that I could see more than my surroundings. I doubt that I'd live differently if I knew more. But I'm overly curious about things which are none of my business.

INTERCESSION: I want to trust you and the light that you have given to me. It is more than adequate. Save me from letting my curiosity, rather than your light, define my life.

PURPOSE: I'm going to enjoy living in the light. For I believe in you.

Amen.

*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2011 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.

The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
