Called and gifted
I heard the voice of the Lord saying, ‘Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? And I said, ‘Here am I; send me!’ ~ Isaiah 6:8 (CEB)
The Spirit has given each of us a special way of serving others. ~ 1 Corinthians 12:7 (CEV)
KEY IDEA: All who make themselves available will be able to serve.
Lord,
THANKS: I am grateful for the opportunity to serve. Otherwise my life would be purposeless.
REGRETS: In spite of my desire to serve, I don't jump at all the opportunities that come my way. And then I jump at some things that turn out to be more about me than you or others.
INTERCESSION: I could use some wisdom so that I can discern when you are calling me to service from when I'm just overly eager to jump into things.
PURPOSE: I want to be of genuine service.
Amen.
*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS
The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul. The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
