God's Kindness
Our Lord, you bless those
who live right,
and you shield them
with your kindness. ~ Psalm 5:12 (CEV)
So whenever we are in need, we should come bravely before the throne of our merciful God. There we will be treated with undeserved kindness, and we will find help. ~ Hebrews 4:16 (CEV)
KEY IDEA:
Our success and safety as human beings depends on God's kindness.
PRAYER:
Merciful God, thank you for being so kind to me. I really do depend on you -- although at times I take your kindness for granted. I don't live as I should, yet I expect your mercy. Of course, you remain kind and merciful regardless of what I do or fail to do. That's who you are. And I'm expecting that my relationship with you will change me for the good. I have no other option. Amen.
*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS
The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul. The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
