Rebellion
Why do you accuse me of doing wrong?
You are the ones who have rebelled,”
says the Lord. ~ Jeremiah 2:29 (NLT)
How I wish today that you of all people would understand the way to peace. But now it is too late, and peace is hidden from your eyes. ~ Luke 19:42 (NLT)
KEY IDEA:
Rebellion against the Lord always ends badly.
PRAYER:
Lord, you love and embrace us. And I'm thankful for that because sometimes I have a rebellious spirit that pushes you away. I'm sorry for that. It eats away at the peace in my life and in the lives of those who have to deal with me. But I know that I can count on your love to change me. That's my request -- that the love of Christ would engulf me and that I would be able to welcome the embrace. I don't want to live a rebellious life.
Amen.
*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS
The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul. The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
