Whether I live or die
If disaster falls on a city,
is it the Lord who has done it? ~ Amos 3:6b (CEB)
If we live, we live for the Lord, and if we die, we die for the Lord. Therefore, whether we live or die, we belong to God. ~ Romans 14:8 (CEB)
KEY IDEA:
No matter what happens we still belong to the Lord and are under his care.
PRAYER:
Soverign Lord, thank you for looking out for me. Help me to remember that you are always on duty --
regardless of what happens. I confess that I tend to get worked up over every little problem. I talk up the worries and feel offended at all the problems. But that is because I am not thinking about how you are involved -- no matter what happens. I am leaning on you -- trusting you so that whether I live or die I will be doing it for you. Amen.

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul. The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
