Forgivness
The 22nd Sunday after Pentecost
You are a God ready to forgive, merciful and compassionate,
very patient, and truly faithful. ~ Nehemiah 9:17 (CEB)
Forgive as quickly and completely as the Master forgave you. ~ Colossians 3:13 (MSG)
KEY IDEA:
Just as the Lord has forgiven us so must we forgive others.
PRAYER:
Thank you, Lord, for so freely forgiving me. Through Christ everything thing I've done wrong is made right in your sight. I wish that I could become so free in extending forgiveness to others. But sometimes I enjoy holding the wrongs of others over them. It even makes me feel superior at times. Change me so that I'm not like that.
I want to forgive as quickly and completely as the Lord has already forgiven me. Amen.
*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS
The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul. The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
