Merry Christmas!
Christmas

This is the kind of love we are talking about—not that we once upon a time loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to clear away our sins and the damage they’ve done to our relationship with God. ~ 1 John 4:10 (MSG)
KEY IDEA:
God's love for us is so great that he has set aside his anger, and sacrificed his Son in order to restore our relationship with him.
PRAYER:
Gracious Father, thank you for sending your Son into the world to fix our relationship with you.
That is the best Christmas present imaginable. Unfortunately, we, including me, have reduced that gift to a nice holiday that doesn't really change the way I am. So, my goal this year is to see that change. With your help, I'm going to let Christmas change the way that I think and live. You are so generous. Amen.

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul. The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
