PRAYER:
Lord, you generously offer safety and protection to all who will turn and trust you. I'm grateful --
even though I live my life on the edge more than I should. I seem to enjoy the sense of fear -- the thrill and adventure of pushing the boundaries. I know that this is not sustainable nor desireable from your perspective. I want to please you; so I am asking that you would calm me down. I need to approach life differently so that I am a relaxed person. I want to be someone who is thrilled by your protection and who finds adventure by trusting in you. Amen.

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2011 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul. The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
