The sick
I am the Lord God... I heard you pray, and I saw you cry. I will heal you... ~ 2 Kings 20:5 (CEV)
Lazarus was sick. So the two sisters sent a message to Jesus telling him, “Lord, your dear friend is very sick.” ~ John 11:2b-3 (NLT)
KEY IDEA:
Jesus cares when we are sick.
PRAYER:
Lord Jesus, you are the great doctor who cares for and heals the sick. Your compassion and ability to heal is amazing. I can be pretty casual about the suffering of others. Give me your compassion -- and senesitivity so I can invite others to experience your healing. Amen.

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.
