God's word
And God said, “Good eyes! I’m sticking with you.
I’ll make every word I give you come true.” ~ Jeremiah 1:12 (MSG)
For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires. ~ Hebrews 4:12 (NLT)
KEY IDEA:
The truth of God's word is so powerful that it gives us life.
PRAYER:
Powerful God, thank you for your powerful word -- your message to us. We are especially thankful for Jesus, who is the living word who cuts to the heart of all things. So, I am trusting in you and your word -- albeit my trust is imperfect. But the good news is that you aren't looking for perfect trust. It's enough to have trust because your word itself is alive and powerful. Amen.
*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS
The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul. The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
