Overcoming
The Lord will keep you safe. He will not let you fall into a trap. ~ Proverbs 3:26 (GNT)
...overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us. ~ Romans 8:37b (NLT)
KEY IDEA:
Christ leads us to overcome obstacles.
PRAYER:
Lord, the world is a dangerous place but thankfully you are the source of our safety. We can trust you to lead us to victory over all the challenges and obstacles life throws at us. I'm not a very trusting person and there are times when I feel like I have to secure my own victories and generate my own safety. Forgive me for doubting your ability or even your love. And help me to think about victory in a new way so that I can honor Christ who is the one who overcame the worst obstacle of all -- death. Amen.
*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS
The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2011 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul. The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
