Telling
I will declare your name to my brothers and sisters;
I will praise you in the very center of the congregation! ~ Psalm 22:22 (CEB)
The women left the tomb quickly. They were afraid, but they were also very happy. They ran to tell Jesus’ followers what had happened. ~ Matthew 28:8 (NCV)
KEY IDEA:
When you have an encounter with God you gotta' tell someone - everyone!
PRAYER:
God of good news! Resurrection! Victory! How is it that I'm so reserved when I've got such a message? I worry that I'll look too crazy for such an important person as I am. Please free me from all the illusions which feed my hyperactive self-conciousness. I want to be an enthusiastic messenger of good news. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen!
*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS
The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2011 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul. The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
