No enemies
When we please the Lord,
even our enemies
make friends with us. ~ Proverbs 16:7 (CEV)
But love your enemies and be good to them. Lend without expecting to be paid back. Then you will get a great reward, and you will be the true children of God in heaven. He is good even to people who are unthankful and cruel. ~ Luke 6:35 (CEV)
KEY IDEA:
Don't write anyone off as an enemy for when the Lord is involved, there is hope.
PRAYER:
Lord, thank you for being here for us. I get discouraged because there are so many enemies out there -- people who want to harm us or take advantage of us. I'm sorry for letting fear define how I relate to people. Show me some practical ways to love our enemies. I'm looking forward to the development of new friends. In Jesus' name, Amen.

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.
