Power and weakness
O Lord, no one but you can help the powerless against the mighty. ~ 2 Chronicles 14:11 (NLT)
So if Christ keeps giving me his power, I will gladly brag about how weak I am. ~ 2 Corinthians 12:9 (NLT)
KEY THOUGHT:
Since Christ is honored more through our weaknesses, quit pursuing power.
PRAYER:
Almighty God, thank you for acting on my behalf. I admit that at times I strive to become the most powerful person in a conflict. Help me to embrace my weaknesses so that Christ will be properly recognized as the one who turns weaknesses into strengths. I will gladly take the road of the powerless and refuse to fight for more power. Amen.

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2011 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.
