The Lord topples

Sing a song to the Lord; belt out a hardy "praise the Lord!" For he is responsible for the rescue of needy people -- saving their lives from the death-hold of evil tyrannts. ~ Jeremiah 20:13 (ABP)

The Lord topples the powerful from their positions of influence and replaces them with a bunch of no-name nobodies. ~ Luke 1:52 (ABP)

KEY THOUGHT:
Be encouraged because God has a habit of replacing powerful tyrannts with the humble who have been faithfully flying below the radar.
PRAYER:
Lord God, thank you for the assurance of your justice. I allow myself to wallow in discouragement when I see how the powerful people of the world abuse those who are poor and vulnerable. Meet me in those moments and help me to sort the righteous indignation from the faithless discouragement. I am going to trust you for justice for the poor and live accordingly. Amen.

*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2011 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.

The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
