Creater and overlord

God alone stretched out the sky,
   stepped on the sea,
and set the stars in place—
   the Big Dipper and Orion,
   the Pleiades and the stars
   in the southern sky.
~ Job 9:8-9 (CEV)

Christ is exactly like God,
   who cannot be seen.
He is the first-born Son,
   superior to all creation.
Everything was created by him,
   everything in heaven
   and on earth,
everything seen and unseen,
   including all forces
   and powers,
   and all rulers
   and authorities.
All things were created
  by God’s Son,
and everything was made
   for him.
~ Colossians 1:15-16

SUMMARY SENTENCE:
Christ is the creator and overlord above all.
PRAYER:
Creator God, thank you for entering into the creation you painted. Forgive me for my worry over the authority wielded by lesser powers. Help me to stay focused on you and your mission. I know who is in charge. Amen.

*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.

The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
