Wisdom
The Lord God appeared to him in a dream and said, “Solomon, ask for anything you want, and I will give it to you.” He replied, "Please make me wise and teach me the difference between right and wrong." ~ 1 Kings 3:5,9 (CEV)
Paul wrote: I pray that your love will keep on growing and that you will fully know and understand how to make the right choices. ~ Philippians 1:9-10a (CEV)
SUMMARY SENTENCE
Pray for the love that blossoms into wisdom.
PRAYER
Lord God, thank you for the offer as it applies to us all. I confess, though, that in spite of my intentions I seek comfort, pleasure, and security over wisdom. Please make me an honest-to-goodness loving and wise follower of Christ Jesus. In spite of my past mistakes I want to make the right choices in the future. Amen.
*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS
The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul. The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
